Babymoon

Will and I decided to take one last small getaway before Evan makes his appearance...and ends all opportunities for "just the two of us" vacations for quite awhile :) So on Sunday we drove up to Lancaster, PA (aka Amish Country) for two days of relaxation in the countryside, far away from work, school, and our lengthy to-do list. Lancaster may seem like a rather boring destination for a babymoon, but boring was exactly what we were looking for. For Will, life has been a blur of 50+ hour work weeks, his masters class, and house projects in the little spare time he has left. For me, life has been all about surviving until spring break. I'm rather blessed with a husband I adore spending time with (but haven't gotten much time with recently), and two whole days away together was wonderful.

Our hotel was a steamboat that has been converted into an inn - the interior decor was rather opulent and made you feel like you had stepped back in time.

During our stay, we took a driving tour that included seeing some of the historic covered bridges, a great view of the Susquehanna River, and LOTS of open countryside. Sleep & relaxation were definitely part of our itinerary, along with some shopping and a little friendly competition in the form of mini-golf :) And no trip to Amish Country would be complete without some good old-fashioned Amish cooking. Three words: Pennsylvania Dutch Smorgasbord. I don't think I have ever been so full in my entire life...nor do I think I ever want to be again! The mashed potatoes melted in your mouth, the oven fried chicken was heavenly, and the apple pie to die for.
