23 Weeks

(Excuse our messy, soon-t0-be-remodeled kitchen in the background. It had the best lighting so we went with it :) )

I am 23 weeks...17 still to go...and having a hard time imagining myself getting any bigger! Don't get me wrong ~ I find being pregnant very exciting (the flutters, the kicks, the thumps!), I love all the new experiences that come with it (well, most of them - there are some that are just undeniably unpleasant), and I do enjoy rocking the baby bump (which will be so much more fun when the weather is warmer!). But the thought of gaining more weight scares me a little...okay, more than a little. Can't I just stay this size?

On another note - Amanda came for the weekend! We had a lot of fun - shopping, enjoying the yummiest red velvet cake ever, eating hibachi-style Japanese food...and going a little camera crazy! See for yourself:


I'm pretty sure Evan is going to have the goofiest aunt ever :)

Baby Checklist

Here's what we have done so far:

1. Registry is finished!! (Super easy since we registered on Amazon.com. And a special thank you to my wonderful friends who have guided me on what to register for - thanks Karen & Becca!)

2. Evan's crib bedding is sitting in his future roo

3. Crib and dresser/changer are picked out - just need to be ordered!

4. Glider & ottoman are all set up. Now we just need to figure out where to put it...not working out so well having it sitting in the middle of our bedroom :)

5. Nursery/guest room is being painted as I type (thanks to my wonderful hubby).

6. The first tiny little outfits are hanging in his closet...and boy are they cute!

Those are the major things we've accomplished in anticipation of Evan's arrival. And though I know I still have half of my pregnancy to go, I am realizing more and more just how fast time will fly. Before we know it, he'll be here! I can hardly wait until we have him here, but I am trying to remind myself to enjoy life as it is right at this moment because things will never be the same come June!

Introducing...

...Evan William!!

Our ultrasound was this afternoon and we are officially having a boy! As soon as the ultrasound tech said the word "boy", I hear a huge "YES!" behind me - needless to say, Will's pretty excited about having a son :)

The ultrasound was amazing. At one point he was looking straight at us, and it was so surreal thinking that this is our first real look at our baby...WOW. [We did have an ultrasound at 9 weeks, but let's be honest - the baby pretty much looks like a blob at that point.] My eyes were glued to the screen as we watched our baby boy moving his hands and kicking his legs. What an incredible experience!

Another amazing experience is feeling him move! The past few days I have started feeling kicks, and today those kicks have been coming a lot more frequently. I love these little reminders that he's in there and all is well. I can't wait until Will can feel them, too.

For the most part he cooperated during the ultrasound, but as soon as she switched to the 3D view, he hid his face! His two little hands are right up there covering his face, so all you can see is the side of his head, but I think this picture is absolutely precious.

Great profile picture. Will thinks he can tell that Evan has his deep-set eyes...I guess we'll see in June!
